“Making the decision to have a child – it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ” – Elizabeth Stone
Becoming a parent is the most life-altering experience imaginable.
If you’re a parent, you already know it.
It’s the greatest thing you’ll ever do…but it’s also really, really, REALLY hard.
So now what?
You’ve had the kid(s), what exactly do you do with them so you don’t completely mess them up?
Parenting can be overwhelming.
How do I get my infant to sleep?
Do I let him sleep in my bed? His bed? What’s better?
Do I have to breast feed? For how long?
Why isn’t she sitting up yet? When will he walk?
How do I discipline my toddler?
OMG, how does anyone live through the Threenager phase?
My child won’t share!
My husband comes home and riles up the kids right at bedtime – just when I’m ready to finally have time for me – what do I do?
Why is my 6 year old suddenly home sick when he goes to school? He/she was fine in preschool!
My 5 year old is starting to roll her eyes at me – what gives?
How we parent must evolve as our children grow.
Parenting a newborn is very different from parenting an 18 month old, a 6 year old, or a preteen.
When and how should we change?
What are we doing that is promoting our child’s development, and what are we doing that is inhibiting his/her growth?
Parenting classes help support your development as a parent…
…so you can support your child’s ever changing needs.
Getting the answers from someone who truly knows the answer – who has both parented children themselves (much more recently than grandparents) and is cognizant of the most recent scientific discoveries about psychological and neurological development – is incredibly helpful and supportive.
Getting answers without judgment is even better.
What is more, sitting with a group of peers who you can share your experiences, commiserate when things are frustrating, and laugh at the funny moments, is invaluable.
Knowing that, as a couple, you are having the same arguments, struggles and difficulties around parenting as most other parents with children of the same age is relieving – it’s not just me!
I’m not alone!
All of our classes have a trained and experienced parent leader as well as a therapist in the room.
Reach out and see which group is right for you.
