Adolescent DBT Skills Group

DBT Adolescent Skills GroupDBT skills group is best suited to adolescents struggling with one or more of the following:

  • Difficulty regulating emotions
  • Intense anxiety, depression, or anger
  • Problems in peer or family relationships
  • Substance abuse
  • Self-harm
  • Eating disorders
  • Inattention

In DBT Skills Group adolescents will learn to:

  • Increase awareness and focus
  • Regulate their emotions
  • Increase positive emotions
  • Replace impulsive behavior with skillful behavior
  • Navigate painful changes in peer relationships
  • address self-consciousness, self-hatred, or shame
  • Increase options for handling extreme situations or high conflict

Our group meets weekly for 90 minutes. Group members learn skills based on the four modules of DBT: Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation and Distress Tolerance plus the added adolescent module: Walking The Middle Path. New skills are presented each group and homework is assigned for individuals to practice during the week.
